About Me

Hello and welcome!

Little Yarn Barn (LYB) has been a dream of mine for many years, and I’m so excited to finally see it come to life. I’m incredibly thankful to everyone who has stopped by and supported this dream along the way.

A little about me: my name is Raelyn Suderman. I’m a wife, a mom to three amazing people, a cat person, and a lover of all things handmade. In my spare time, you’ll usually find me crocheting, learning new hobbies, thrifting, or caring for my ever-growing collection of houseplants. I’m a self-proclaimed introverted extrovert…I love talking about things I’m passionate about, but I also need quiet time to recharge and create. I love crafting and encouraging creativity, and while I’m not an expert in anything, I’m always learning from my customers, which is one of the best parts of spending my days here.

When my family moved to Winkler in the summer of 2024, I was surprised to find there wasn’t a local yarn store. It felt like a sign that it was time to turn my dream into reality. With lots of help from my family, everything fell into place, and LYB opened in September 2024.

My goal was to create a cozy, welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable, with options for every budget and skill level. I lovingly call it a “something for everyone” yarn store. To make that happen, I’ve partnered with many amazing local makers to offer their products in the shop…so even if you don’t “yarn,” you may still find something you love. The LYB vendor section is all about giving the community convenient access to unique, locally made products while providing makers with meaningful exposure for their work.

I hope to see you in the store soon!
